The herd at Congruence Tucson lives within a larger sanctuary shaped by relationship — horse, human, land, and the wild all participating in the life of this place.

Many of the horses who come here arrive with complex needs, aging bodies, or histories that ask to be met with patience, compassion, and understanding. They are offered space, rhythm, choice, and care shaped around who they are, rather than what they are expected to become.

The horses participate in this work at liberty. They are not tools, props, or instruments of human healing. They are autonomous beings with their own preferences, histories, relationships, sensitivities, and boundaries.

To meet the herd is to enter a quieter kind of relationship — one that asks for presence rather than performance, listening rather than control, and respect rather than expectation.

Reciprocity between human and horse is woven into the daily life of Congruence. As the herd is cared for, listened to, and allowed to live with dignity, they help shape the field of safety, regulation, and connection that supports all who enter this sanctuary.
