Private Session —

Equine-Facilitated Somatic Healing™

90 minutes | In-person | Sliding scale: $150–$225

Equine-Facilitated Somatic Healing™ is rooted in somatic and nature-based practices. It brings together insights from Polyvagal Theory, the body-based methods of Somatic Experiencing®, and the living presence of the Congruence Herd. This integrative approach supports the nervous system in moving from protection into connection, restoring rhythm, balance, and a felt sense of safety.

At the heart of this work are the horses. The Congruence Herd responds authentically to the energy and state around them, offering feedback that is honest and without judgment. Their sensitivity invites you to slow down, notice, and become curious about your own internal experience. In relationship with them—and grounded by the natural world—you are guided into an embodied experience of regulation and connection that the mind alone cannot access.

This work is supportive if you are seeking to regulate your nervous system after trauma, anxiety, or stress; recovering from brain injury; longing for steadier resilience; or desiring a more grounded relationship with yourself and others.

What to expect

In this session, the horses are not passive bystanders—they are co-facilitators. Here you’ll be held in the presence of the Congruence Herd as we gently reconnect with your body’s natural intelligence. Their sensitivity invites you to check in with yourself, notice what’s arising, and deepen your self-awareness. Peggy serves as a bridge between you and the herd, translating their messages and guiding the process as it unfolds organically.

While the herd and Peggy offer support, your body sets the rhythm of the work. We honor your system’s readiness, creating conditions where transformation can emerge naturally, safely, and with the grounding needed for lasting integration. This isn’t about forcing change; it’s about allowing what is already within you to emerge.

Equine-Facilitated Somatic Healing™

Equine-Facilitated Somatic Healing™ is rooted in somatic and nature-based practices. At its core, it draws from Polyvagal Theory and Somatic Experiencing, a synergy that bridges ancient wisdom with modern understanding of trauma physiology. Polyvagal Theory illuminates how the nervous system moves between states of safety, mobilization, and rest and restore. Somatic Experiencing builds capacity through resourcing and titration, allowing stored survival responses to gradually release and integrate. Together, they restore rhythm, balance, and a felt sense of safety.

From this foundation, the Congruence Herd—in relationship with the natural and energetic world—deepens the journey. Their sensitivity invites us to notice our internal states and to respond with greater trust and coherence. The energetic field attunes us to subtle shifts within and around us, helping us sense what might otherwise remain unseen. Nature grounds the experience through the touch of earth, the warmth of sun, and the breath of fresh air, drawing us back into presence.

Through this weaving of somatic practice, horse wisdom, and the natural world, Equine-Facilitated Somatic Healing™ supports the nervous system in shifting from protection into regulation, opening the possibility for deeper connection with self, others, and the world.

FAQs

  • No. While I specialize in supporting those recovering from traumatic brain injuries (TBI) through modalities like Somatic Experiencing®, Polyvagal Theory, and mindfulness, I also work with individuals navigating stress, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, or those simply seeking a deeper connection to themselves and their nervous system. This work meets you where you are—whether you’re healing, growing, or remembering what safety feels like in your body.

  • That depends on your goals and what your system is ready for. Some people benefit from just a few sessions, while others choose to return regularly over time. We move at the pace that feels right for you.

  • In-person sessions with the herd are 90 minutes in length, allowing spaciousness for settling, co-regulation, and integration. Virtual sessions typically last 60 minutes.

  • In-person sessions with the Congruence Herd are offered on a sliding scale of $125–$250. A limited number of reduced rate spaces are available each month—please inquire if needed.

Although we are NOT a non profit, each session directly supports the care and well-being of the sanctuary.

  • Not at all. No prior horse experience is necessary. Your comfort and pacing are central to the process. Any interaction with the herd is guided and happens in a way that respects both you and the horses.

  • Fear is a natural and often intelligent response. Many people come with some level of fear, and we always begin outside the corral. That fear itself can become a meaningful doorway into the work. We never move beyond what your system is ready for.

  • You’ll be invited to sense into the herd and notice any particular connection, and you may be guided to make an energetic ask. But in deep respect for their autonomy, it’s the horses who ultimately choose whether or how they engage. Even when not physically close, they’re always participating in subtle ways.

  • No. Out of respect for the herd’s healing journeys and agency, all sessions take place on the ground. The focus is on relational presence, not performance or control.

  • Yes. Sessions are held in a safe, contained environment. I’ve designed this space to support regulation—for you and the herd—and I’m present throughout to guide and ensure safety.

  • Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes appropriate for walking outdoors. A hat, sunscreen, and water are also recommended, especially in warmer weather.
